“Ear worms”Photo, Acrylic Image Transfers, Animation, Projection10-11-2024
“Ear worms” is a video installation, using a hand drawn and scanned animation projected onto a set of image transfers. This encapsulates the feeling of a song that gets stuck in your head, and its impact on the brains way of keeping memory. A tune that particularly sticks to ones memory is referred to as an ear worm, due to the uncontrollable nature of music that seems to play in someones head over and over.
Oftentimes music correlates to memories, and songs become associated with certain moments, people, or things in our life. This can cause music to spark visuals and extreme emotions, with sometimes no control. “Ear worms” is a visual description of that experience.
“Ear worms” uses the song “Uncle ACE” by Blood Orange.
